Can you please help me on technical grounds -
I take online lessons through Skype & the connection is good both side for me & my teacher. But the problem is as I put the electronic tanpura a distance away from me or closer to my laptop (either way) my teacher hears my voice for few seconds while I am singing anything pretty ok but after few seconds my voice turns metallic. It is happening only while singing but not while talking. But while my teacher is singing the voice is good & clear without any metallic sound.
Can anyone help.
What I guess from your post, you are using laptop speakers to listen. That's why there may be a feedback which is created when microphone get your sound from two different sources(your original Voice+Tanpura and same sound coming from your speakers) with a little gap. And feedback may be louder gradually which sound like whistling after a while.
Remedy..try headphone to listen and don't use laptop speakers. you can also try a headphone which comes with microphone built-in. See if it solves the issue.
Thanks! it helped.
Headphones for only listening(with no mic) will be more useful as your laptop's built in mic will pick-up Tanpura sound but there won't be any feedback if using headphone to hear. Good quality Headphone is good investment anyway.
Thanks it helped.
I am also curious to know whether this worked or not. Did headphone solve your problem?
